School Words – Learning Stations
We like to use learning stations where students work 5-10 minutes on an activity and then get to stand up, move and change the task. Running the lessons in the learning stations format requires some practice but even young learners are able to navigate between the stations if the instructions are simple and clear. It is also important to stick to only a few activity types that the students master well.
- Arrange 3-5 learning stations. Some of the stations may be outside the classroom. For example, it might be a good idea to place the Fly Swatter game a little further away. 😉
- Divide the students into groups of 4-6 students.
- Introduce the different assignments/activities on each station and write them clearly on the board. You may also use our visual display cards.
- Agree what sign signals that it’s time to change the station. This could be a bell for example.
- 5-10 minutes is a suitable time per station.
You will find instructions for each activity mentioned in the picture by navigating to the specific learning materials.
